From April 10 – 11, 2014, we.CONECT invited an international audience of professionals, team leaders and engineering managers from the departments like intranet professionals, web-, & social media evangelists and SharePoint managers, software experts and communication minds to the Intra.NET Reloaded conference in Berlin.
More than 230 attendees discussed current challenges, new approaches and future trends in the field of intranets. Participants, speakers and business partners took part in a highly interactive conference and used the opportunity to share experiences, to network, benchmark and exchange ideas and best practices.

To create a relaxed prelude on the day before the conference started, the participants were acclaimed with the Icebreaker session. The relaxed atmosphere provided a first opportunity to network, benchmark and discuss, while allowing the participants to get to know each other at the WEEKEND CLUB in Berlin, Germany.

The first day of the conference focused the topic of transformation of enterprises into digital workplaces. The presentations and case studies dealt with various topics such as the influences and benefits of intranets, latest developments and insights, the bases of success – like knowledge capturing and retaining processes, the building of running internal collaborations as well as their development processes and metrics of success and evaluation.

During the first part of the day, Wendy Jordan, Wheatley Housing Group, UK, introduced the Wheatly Housing roadmap, leading to the benefits and potential of portal practice and the influence to staff satisfaction. Later on, Susan Pickels, ConocoPhillips, USA, focused on their achievements and concurrently bases of success while capturing, retaining and sharing critical knowledge within the entrepreneurial everyday life. Dave Shepherd, Barclays Bank, UK, showcased how to create compelling colleague collaboration to drive deeper relationships with the costumers and gave an overview how Barclays is transforming digital adoption through the digital eagles. Tracy Green, UK Parliament, UK, later discussed the processes of development behind mobile applications, explaining the main user needs as well as success metrics and the role and way of evaluation.

To conclude the first conference day the first evening ended with a festive networking dinner in relaxed atmosphere and the award ceremony.

The discussions of the second day centered as ‘we.CONECT Business Track’ in the approach of enabling agile and collaborative business processes with the proceeding of more highly advanced case studies. Presentations also focused on topics such as the intranet in the clouds and different experiences whilst outworking an intranet concept as well as their influences on assorted mainsprings.

To start the second day of the conference, Ralf Larsson, Electrolux AB, Sweden, centered his presentation on the leverage of user adoption within the virtual workspace, which will lead to new challenges, initiatives and tools to support engagement for that topic. Later on, Jamie Manning, Biogen Idec Inc., USA focused on empowering a global sales force, by implementing integrated mobile and intranet technology. Jean-Paul Chapon, Societé Générale, France, closed off the conference by presenting PEPS!, a co-creation project and employee-based assignment of an integrated intranet and social network in the enterprise.

Participants explained the suggested numerous difficulties and challenges they encounter in their daily work and throughout their experience in the industry, and looked at different possible solutions. They challenged their peers whilst competitors responding to different range of questions and giving insights in their businesses.

In addition to the outstanding presentations of the event, we.CONECT strived to achieve more. This is why we asked each participant, before the conference, for further topics, questions and issues they feel are important to address. Based on this information, we created innovative and exciting Challenge Your Peers Roundtables. Each table dealt with important topics which participants had shown interest in. Discussions lasted for most of the afternoon on the first day.

More than 20 Presentations and Keynotes

Inspiring discussions and presentations regarding the core issues of the conference, including topics such as the nexus of forces: mobility, share point and app technologies within the tool based future digital workplace, the uniformity of communications or the enterprises social networking as part of the business strategy fulfilled the participants’ expectations.

The exchange of ideas between participants, speakers and business partners was animated and encouraged throughout the cycle of varying sessions (eg. World Cafés, Challenge Your Peers Roundtables, Speakers Corner). The participants were aimed at turning into active debating members, rather than passive listeners – this goal was notably achieved.
